Joseph star's homecoming
Mar 8 2002

Coventry performer Shaun Dalton will be singing and dancing his way back to the city next week.

Shaun is among the cast of hit musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, which opens for a week-long run at the Belgrade Theatre on Monday.

The former Cardinal Wiseman student has been touring the show all over the country.

He originally got the acting bug performing with Coventry's Eden Theatre Company in productions including The Wizard of Oz, Whistle Down the Wind and A Chorus Line.

He went on to train at the Birmingham School of Speech and Drama and has since appeared in panto and in TV series such as Peak Practice.

The 25-year-old performer, from Binley, will be working with the city group again next week when 40 youngsters from the David Eden Theatre Workshops will be appearing as the Joseph choir for the musical's Coventry dates.

Shaun says: "I was 17 when I started acting. I was doing A-levels and I asked a school friend I knew who was involved in the youth company for their phone number. And it all started from there."

Shaun plays Joseph's brother Reuben in the hit musical and has been touring the country for nearly a year. He says: "The tour comes to an end in March and it's really good to be bringing the show to Coventry before we finish."
